Charter

The Voices of Africa Art and Entertainment Practice is a network of artists, curators, writers, and entertainers who convene to discuss artistic practice; representations of African art; and innovative approaches to artistic production, curation, and promotion. The network includes artists, curators, and entertainers of all mediums.

The network’s convenings will focus on eight points of discussion, practice, and action:

discuss our artistic practices — the themes, mediums, and materials we are exploring; share what we want to learn from each other and ask questions about creative production or curation; discuss how Africa and the African Diaspora is represented through art and curation; support artistic production of network members through community conversation and, if requested, collective feedback; reflect on how culture, heritage, and traditions influence artistic production and curation; consider ways we can learn from indigenous African practices as creative producers and curators; develop innovative ways to increase the visibility and promotion of contemporary African artists; and showcase the artistic work of network members and their communities.

The Voices of Africa Art and Entertainment Practice aims to develop a space for African artists, curators, writers, and entertainers to connect, collaborate, and innovate the arts and entertainment industry.
